One of the world’s most popular social networking sites is going through some technical issues.
To the dismay of many a tweeter, the entire website was down Saturday morning. During the past week many users have also reported that they’ve been unable to tweet, retweet or follow users.
Users from all over the world are experiencing the issues, with some problems more localized than others.
The website reported on Friday that they were “currently experiencing elevated error rates. You may experience some problems loading twitter.com and with Twitter clients. We are aware of the problem and are taking action.”
Update: Twitter is back up and functioning normally. Let’s hope it stays that way.
Twitter seems to be having server problems. Since 5:00 a.m. EST today, and possibly even earlier than that, Twitter, one of the world’s most popular social media sites, has been unavailable. Even Twitter’s homepage doesn’t load.
With millions of “tweets” being posted on Twitter each day, there are a lot of unhappy Twitter users at the moment. In the meantime, many people are turning to Facebook and FriendFeed to make sure the world doesn’t miss out on anything important (at least to them) going on in their lives.
Twitter does not have issues often, and when they do, it’s usually short lived. Fans of Twitter should have patience and give them a chance to correct the situation. It’s likely that the folks at Twitter are working to solve the problem as quickly as they can. Otherwise, use one of the other social media sites. There’s always FriendFeed and Facebook to turn to in a pinch.
