Prior to her wedding, the Duchess attended many high-profile royal events. She has been admired for her fashion sense[citation needed] and has been placed on numerous "best dressed" lists. Once their relationship became public, Catherine received widespread media attention and there was much speculation that she and Prince William would eventually marry. On 16 November 2010 the office of the Prince at Clarence House announced their engagement, with details announced one week later. Catherine Middleton married Prince William on 29 April 2011 (Feast Day of Saint Catherine of Siena) at Westminster Abbey.
After so much speculation, it looks like the Creative Director for Alexander McQueen was given the honor of designing the dress for the Royal Wedding!

Burton was an early favorite, but when recent reports claimed Kate was wearing up-and-coming designer Sophie Cranston, it seemed like a distant possibility. Personally, I think it’s the perfect fit — Kate is modern and chic, and I’m sure Burton’s creation will look gorgeous on the bride-to-be. We’re not the only ones who were pulling for Burton — even Nina Garcia wanted to see Kate in one of the designer’s dresses!
If Sarah Burton is definitely the designer, it may also explain why Dior has yet to reveal John Galliano‘s successor — especially since Burton’s name keeps coming up regarding Galliano’s replacement.

A favorite among the styles was London milliner Philip Treacy, who provided designs to Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, and Victoria Beckham.
As expected, Kate did not promise to “obey” her husband when she said her vows, but contrary to some rumors, the pair exchanged traditional sentiments, rather than penning their own verses.
According to a lipreading expert, William cracked a joke with Kate’s father Michael Middleton when they arrived at the alter, saying, “We’re supposed to have just a small family affair.”
After the ceremony, the congregation sang Love Divine All Love’s Excelling, before the bride’s brother James Middleton gave a reading from Romans 12, 1, 2 and 9-18.
The choir then led the congregation in singing This Is The Day, which was specially composed for the occasion by John Rutter and comprising different psalms from the Bible.
The Right Reverend and Right Honorable Dr. Richard Chartres, Lord Bishop of London and Dean of Her Majesty’s Chapels Royal then addressed the couple in a 10 minute speech, before the choir sang another hymn, Ubi Carita Et Amor.
Prayers were then said, followed by a rendition of Jerusalem before the ceremony ended with the National Anthem and the couple signed the three registers.
SARAH Ferguson has been told to stay out of the way over the next few days.
Sources say the Royal Family ordered Sarah, the Duchess of York, to go into hiding because they don’t want her getting publicity when Prince William marries his fiancee Kate Middleton on April 29.
“The last thing the family wants is a picture of Sarah in a bikini on a beach popping up the day of the wedding or even worst mopping around by herself while everyone else is celebrating,” a pal told PopEater.
“They have basically told her to disappear and not be any distraction to the big day.
“Not inviting Sarah to the wedding is such a big mistake. What’s going to happen in a few years when her daughters get married? Are they going to try and ban their mother from attending their wedding because the Queen will be attending?”
